We are returning nurses (Bridget’s story) – Transcript

We Are Returning Nurses (Bridget’s story).

“My name is Bridget; I work at the Old Courthouse as a practice nurse.

I left nursing because it was a bit difficult to try and keep up with the work and childcare and I thought, you know what, I think I need a break.

This is early 2004. I’m working as a practice nurse and I was actually pregnant with my middle daughter in this photo.

I knew that at some stage I will return to nursing. There’s a saying that once a nurse, always a nurse, so I don’t know if it’s true or not but the basics are always the same. You find that you still have that in you and it comes back.

I would like to think that I fill the hole by coming back to nursing and who knows you know, I might end up being a nurse practitioner or whatever else is out there, so watch this space.”
